Ford Door Handle Sensor

Anyone have the automatic lock unlock sensors in the door handle stop working.

When i first got my st i would turn the car off exit the vehicle close the door and then grab the handle and touch the black sensor with my thumb like in the fiesta but nothing would happen. I finally figured out that i was doing it wrong by grabbing the handle. Auto door handle sensor not working.
